Noventus Role

A major telecommunications provider engaged Noventus as the International Program Manager to manage a major Australian bank’s regional Wide Area Network (WAN) rollout.

The program encompassed the upgrade of the bank’s core network, all branches, business offices, Data Centres and Contact Centres to a converged IP solution providing video conferencing, VoIP, and enhanced data services. This spanned 850 national sites and 153 international sites.

Business Need

The International stream of the Super Regional Network (SRN) WAN deployments was severely behind schedule, which was adversely affecting revenues, strategic relationships, and the bank’s business case, and benefit realisation.

Key Challenges

At the start of the assignment, the challenges included:

  • A technical architecture that was not clearly defined
  • No project team had been appointed
  • The project was being driven by unrealistic expectations
  • The project was in delay; and
  • Senior management did not have a realistic understanding of the projects deliverables, or the reasons for delays, as the project reporting mechanism were not functioning correctly
