NOVENTUS ROLE

Our Client engaged Noventus to provide  Supply Chain Management, Spares Assessing, System Engineering and Obsolescence analysis to support to the day-to day sustainment of Army Aviation assets including Shadow 200 UAVs, as well as Chinook CH-47D/F, Blackhawk, Iroquois, and Kiowa helicopters.

BUSINESS NEED

Our Client is responsible for managing the logistics / engineering for a significant portion of the Australian Army’s Aviation fleet as well as managing Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Publication Development, Supply Chain, Sparing, Obsolescence issues and the planned decommissioning of several platforms. In a constrained budget environment and facing internal skills shortages, our Client needed a trusted partner to provide a continuous team of skilled specialists to become an integral part of their team and directly support their mission.

NOVENTUS SOLUTION

Spares Assessing

  • Noventus provided technical assessing support as required to meet project objectives. Technical assessing was carried out in accordance with the requirements of DMM (LOG) 04-02-001 (Aviation Technical Assessing in Defence) and the applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • For example, Noventus also provided cataloguing of unique Items of Supply (IOS) carried out in accordance with the relevant documentation to ensure that all IOS were correctly catalogued in MILIS. This included collaboration with other System Project Offices where the client was not the item manager.

Logistics Engineering

  • Noventus was responsible for responding to Defect Reports, ASORs, Technical Advisories from airworthiness authorities, developing deviations and investigating aircraft modifications, and assisting with Physical Configuration Audits of approved aircraft modifications.

ILS Management

  • Noventus provided Logistics Management Services for our Client in accordance with client directives and the Electronic Supply Chain Manual (ESCM). As part of this activity. Noventus logistically supported the clients Logistics Business Improvement Program, assisted Logistics Managers to achieve Balanced Inventory, provided Logistics Governance assistance, and assisted the client to manage and ensure the MILIS architecture and technical structure, including hierarchical and reporting structures, were accurate.

Disposal Management

  • Noventus supported our client through the development and management of disposal procedures in accordance with client direction, Noventus assisted in the Risk Assessments required by the client and project managed the pre-disposal and disposal activities for aircraft plus associated support equipment.
  • Noventus maintained communication and information flows with ADF organisations, OEMs and corporate entities during disposal activities, including pre-disposal planning; acted as a Client representative in various high level working groups; assisted in the development of the Client Disposal Team; assisted in the preparation of disposal documentation for government approval; and ensured disposals complied with relevant government and state legislature and Defence disposal policy.

OUTCOME

As a result the Noventus team achievements / outcomes, the Client was able to successfully progress the retirement of a number of airframes, consolidate spare part inventories and consistently achieve reporting KPIs. The Noventus team is still in place at the Client site and is continuing to contribute to this important Defence capability.
